ANNA VALLS “Dichotomy”
The works I present in this exhibition are almost all within the series I call “dichotomies.”
Dichotomies within the same space, both parties exclude each other while producing harmony and concern. Opposite items, opposited and at the same time attracted, this produces a sense of balance and imbalance.
This also occurs in nature. So the series comes from a previous works, some will also be on the show, where the concept of dichotomy is linked with nature. Nature without light but with all the shades of black. Dichotomy light / dark. Also other related concepts: contradiction, contrast, …
BÉATRICE BIZOT “Disarmed concrete”
Arranged in an arc, these reinforced concrete beings, at once victims and heroes, they are as witnesses of our modern culture.
In attitude of prayer or contemplation, sculptures full of ancient humanity, twisted faces toward the ground, the earth, to one’s human condition, they are images of what we build and what we are responsible.
The temples of incomplete concrete are built in our neighborhoods, unfinished shells of houses, modern temples abandoned to recall Greek temples, symbols of a adrift society and vestiges of a disoriented culture that is traces of humanity.
These concrete structures that look like skeletons, probably contain the soul of the houses.
From a crude and dirty material like cement, I wanted to extract a bit of humanity and sweetness, revealing our weakness and at the same time our strength.

Duran has received numerous awards including the Award for Cinematography of the Generalitat of Catalonia, in recognition of his long career as a designer. His work is present in a number of important collections of contemporary art, including the MACBA, the La Caixa Foundation and Rafael Tous Collection, among others. In his career it should be stressed particularly the importance it attaches to the recovery of memory associated with a search for new meaning in the art object, a legacy that Pep Duran collects from the assembling idea of Eisenstein, the ‘Dada and surrealist object, building a superposition of layers and failures, that are aimed deliberately, as the art critic Manuel Clot said, erase identifiable boundaries with a new interpretation of the image and language.

Camscapes.
(Landscapes videovigilats)
The surveillance cameras have become common in public places, on the other hand the spread of the webcams reveal the inner and intimacies of private spaces through Internet, sites far out of control, from the sky the satellites complete the triangle continually scanning the entire surface of the planet. Orwell’s Big Brother is a technological reality.
In camscapes cameras are located in nature, making the landscape, so far untouched and without human intervention in a controlled area, watching the kids play, or the course of the elderly’s life. The violence generated by control situations has been naturalized and it appears as normal, acceptable and necessary, because we are bombarded with the idea that we are in constant danger.
Each piece is showing everyday situations, where their own natural harmony with the cameras, they fade into the landscape, we do not realize that we are being observed and recorded, that our actions are filed, they become reproducible, they leave to be ephemeral to open the possibility of the loop, the heavy repetition, our actions can be manipulated and our image used against us. In the works the camera is the most real, the photo collage is superimposed on the drawing or painting, reality is increasingly subjective, blurred with the coldness of the camera and becomes the only goal in the scene.
The omnipresence of the camera is what gives meaning and weaves the pieces of the project.
The economy of means that is the drawing and collage helps to demonstrate the hopelessness that we suffer with the technological power and control situations.
We live in a world where it is impossible to hide and useless to flee elsewhere.

With a total participation of 90 galleries, museums and art centers in Catalonia and for the first time, two centers from abroad, it begins the third edition of Tardor Art, this year under the title On-Off, dedicated to the concept of light.
Antoni Pinyol Gallery presents a selection of pieces by the artists: Àlvar Calvet and Lydia Perez.
Àlvar Calvet has worked this concept in many of his works especially in the last 10 years. Among all, some representative works have been chosen where the light is used as a physical element and others where this phenomenon is analyzed from the most conceptual and / or symbolic aspect.
Lydia Perez frequently works with all kinds of everyday and distorted objects, which just turned into a different work through intervention.
The social situation of women has been one of the majors concerns in her work and it gives us a look between tenderness and irony into the everyday world of women.

(Longing for the tissues of the sky)
My artistic practice (multidisciplinary painting, collages, installations) focuses primarily on a reflection on the relationship between man and nature, between art and nature, and it arises from a deep need to give meaning to everything around me and at the same time I am satisfied. Pierce the veil of appearances, always go beyond a poetic exercise, and finally try to get to the essence of things, that’s what moves me.
In this exhibition I show a series of paintings inspired on a poem by William Butler Yeats, “He wishes for the Cloths of Heaven”, which has acted as a catalyst for all these above mentioned concerns. My painting of cosmological roots has already found a special echo, first in the evocation of both physical and metaphysical spaces, then the figure of the poet as an intermediary between heaven and earth.
You could say that Heaven opens a fertile connection that will bear fruit and will allow me to further deepen into my personal and artistic search.
If I had the sky embroidered fabrics, wrought with light gold and silver, the blue and the cloudy and the dark cloths of night and day and I would extend the half-light fabrics at your feet: but I, being poor, I have only my dreams, I have spread my dreams at your feet, tread softly because you tread my dreams WBYeats

In the selection of works exhibited at Antoni Pinyol’s Gallery, Pedro Galera shows simultaneously the inside and the outside, the description and the insinuation, the public and the private sectors. The paintings have windows through which we access to a domestic dimension of maximizing space, which serves as background. A set of windows as a magic trick where the trap is in sight. The illusion of space is like a game of mirrors where it is not important what we see, but what it is insinuated. And what it is suggested shares the duality that is the substance of Peter Galera’s painting, the spiritual and the earthly.

“TERRE”
It is the result of an evolution, a constant search for the color as an expression of inner realities. (…) abstraction that has the same nature. Abstraction? That is a matter, because as we all have traveled by plane and have seen the earth when the device takes off or seeks security track, we know from patches of plowed soil or in the already growing, green, wheat or barley and we admire the geometric sense of the farmers who care the fields.
Jose Maria Cadena
Journalist and art critic
The artist Khalid El Bekay has again demonstrated his extraordinary mastery of technical resources as limitless as originals in the field of pictorial collage. The search for balance and simplicity are other key points to highlight of this very interesting and successful career constantly driven by the creative interests and desire to excel.

The work shown at Antoni Pinyol’s gallery belong to a block named Crippled Symmetries, in which the author has been working since early 2007.
Crippled Symmetries title is a homonym of the composer Morton Feldman’s work (of whom it is said the Schubert of the twentieth century) which in turn is often based on the American abstract painting. This constant and obsessive use of symmetry is due to an attempt to build more direct and less narrative images, of an as immediate as possible presence and as powerful and forceful. Its slight “clipping”, which begins by being a non-geometric and accurate symmetry, but organic, physical, speaks perhaps about an impossibility of perfection, or rather the purpose of making a virtue of the error and a working method.
Thus, one of the key aspects in the author’s work is, for several years, the research on the relationship between the pictorial and the musical, which leads him to make a kind of painting very scenic, considering the theatrical space as a meeting place between music and image. It is, we should say, one of the centers and starters of this work.

Abstract illusion of inner vision is the thematic basis of this oil painting collection began in 2004 and still in process.
Highlight certain structures and thoughts connections, feelings and human sensibilities form the focus of this work. The relationship between illusion and reality and the possibility of a new integration between them, constitutes the heart of the matter.
