Tomeu Ventayol – Geometry and gesture – space and abstraction – from November 8 to December 10, 2008
In many of his works he uses aluminum plates as a support for painting, and aluminum and iron for his sculptures.
The artist works structures with materials such as enamel, graphite or carbon bar, using technical resources such as grated, the spatulate or scrapes.
His works of informalist and energetic stroke, have a figurative reference, the idea of landscape which becomes an abstract composition that invites to meditation.
Conceptually, the artist investigates the possibilities of gesture in space, considering it as an specific and defined entity.
We find, ultimately, the work of a sincere and mature creator of a reflective art that travels to the essence, a subtle and balanced work full of poetic power.
